I sequenced Noel Gallagher’s version of Slade’s “Merry Christmas” because I’m a huge fan of Oasis and Noel. I was privileged enough to see them at Wembley this year — an epic show that was just as good, if not better, than when I saw them back in the ’90s.
Noel’s version isn’t quite as toe-tapping as Slade’s original — it’s more vocal, acoustic, and mellow — but I really like it. It was originally recorded for another brilliant British classic, The Royle Family Christmas 2000 special (The Royle Family (TV Series 1998–2013)
