Hello all,
Im new here, I l'm just curious if I download a sequence do I need the exact setup to make it work or is that considered a starting point to building my own show? Also I would love to see some setup videos with pointers on how to physically build out a show. TIA

Hello all,

You don't need an exact matching layout to use sequences. But similar props is advisable.

When importing a sequence (not opening the xsq you download), xLights gives you a window to match the downloaded sequence's models against your own. You can follow these but also map to different models.
At the end of the day; the sequence you download has a bunch of effects on each model. xLights doesn't care if you map a downloaded sequence 'mega tree' to a candy cane, but it probably won't look good.
However, mapping a mini tree to a candy cane might be okay. Or a snowflake to a star.

Importing (buying or freely downloading) sequences isn't a silver bullet to bypassing the sequencing process.
It still takes understanding of how xLights sequences effects to the models for a desirable outcome.
Not all downloads are good either. Some people have strange sequencing methods, or many sub models to make it more confusing.
It takes practice, and watching the sequence sharer's preview video to see where effects are located on models and placing them onto your models.
