Has anyone considered using machine learning to develop sequences? I would think it would be fairly straight forward using the .xml generated files? Might be able to produce awesome shows with less time.
why not ask it ? i use AI for Home Assistant dashboards and as long as you check it with check its fine
Yes! I can definitely help you develop sequences for xLights, which is a popular software used for creating light shows synchronized to music. I can provide guidance on designing light sequences, suggest effects, and help with setting up basic or advanced visual effects for your light displays.
Iv'e been playing with AI for while and must say I'm somewhat unimpressed. To get an AI model to build a Xlights sequence based on your inputs is currently not possible, at least from what I have seen.
However, I did find some AI help ... I uploaded a built Xlights sequence (xml format, but I had to change the extension to .txt") and asked AI to analyze the sequence and provide recommendations.
It did correctly identify that I had way too many color palettes and recommended merging them into fewer. It even provided the the code to relace in the sequence to accomplish this .... but is failed to then go back through all the effects and change the palette assignments, so the resulting sequence crashed upon loading.
AI seem to be very good at analyzing a known song (cannot upload an mp3, but is the song is common and known to the LLM) and making recommendations on the effects to apply and the time within the song they should go .... although without the actual timing track, these would be guessimates.
to be clear, a query like "create a new sequence for the song "Sweet but Psycho" that includes singing bulbs, stars, snowflakes, roof verticals, window outlines, candy canes and a megatree. output the file in fseq format" will not generate a Xlights sequence, but will provide recommendations for you to follow in building your sequence within Xlights.
