therclan submitted a new sequence:

Home Alone Medley

Greetings All. This is yet another one of my early attempts at sequencing. I did this one for Christmas 2024 and it was a popular sequence here in the neighborhood. The music mix is custom and the entire sequence is available for free. As always, I welcome any respectful, constructive feedback. Have fun!

Good Day, I'm new to use shared sequences. I downloaded the file and opened it. It says its a read only. How do I use this sequence? Sorry for the noob questions. I have never downloaded sequences to use.

Thanks
Steve

Hello Steve! My apologies for the delayed reply. Somehow I didn't receive notice of your message. If you have xlights installed on your computer already, you should be able to download the .xsqz file to a location on your computer, such as the desktop... Then, you can simply "double click" on the file (or right click and choose open) and the sequence will extract to your xlights. The problem here is that it can be messy when you don't have the same setup that I do. I recommend watching some YouTube videos on importing sequences like these:
Importing sequences can be time consuming and even a little challenging... But certainly faster than sequencing the entire thing by yourself. Let me know if you are still unable to get it working. Good Luck!

Greetings. I appreciate your confidence that I would be able to do something worthy with this. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to make sequences on request for free. I do sequencing for myself… for my house when I have time. Once I have used the sequences I created for my own show… I don’t mind sharing a few of them for free. But if you have sequenced any, you know it takes a great deal of time. Again, if I dedicated the time to do something for myself or my family, I don’t mind sharing with others. But I’m afraid I’m not able to dedicate many hours of my time just to create sequences for free for others. I feel like I’m doing my part “giving back” to the community by sharing some sequences for free already. I’m afraid that is all that I have time for presently. Again, I appreciate your confidence, and I wish you the very best in getting a sequence together for your chosen music. Take care!

Hey Kelvin,

Happy Wednesday to you. These are matrix panels from Gilbert Engineering. Each panel is 2’ x 4’ and pixels are 16 x 32 for a total of 512 per panel. Spacing is shown in their website as 1”, but if you measure from the center of one node to the next it is actually 1.5”. If I would have been smart, I would have realized the math tells you that. LOL. (24 divided by 1.5 = 16) Presently I have 12 panels on the garage door for a total of 6144 pixels… total area is 6 foot tall by 16 feet wide. I’m going to add about another foot to the height this year.

I am honestly disappointed with the density of the matrix and how it looks up close. Standing in front of the house you can’t make out what you are looking at. You have to be at least across the street to get a decent picture. Colors and designs show up fine closer up… but movie clips are no good up close. Not certain if it would have been that much better at true 1” spacing as opposed 1.5”. Too much invested time and money to change at this point.

A few other notes… I use a system of magnets to attach them to the garage door. Works amazing (they are pretty heavy!). Also I only run them at about 25% brightness… so I power inject only once at about the halfway point (250 pixels in). They are run using differential receivers. I dedicate one channel to each panel. 3 controllers to run the 12 panels.

Hope this helps.

Hi Vance
Thanks for the detailed description of your Matrix. I am in New Zealand and there is only about 30 people that to pixel (or seed) light shows in New Zealand and mine is one of the bigger ones at 6000 pixels last year and hopefully 7000 pixels this year. The extra 1000 pixels this year I am hoping to use to make a Matrix, so quite a bit smaller that your matrix. I make all my own props as it is to expensive to ship to NZ.
Thanks again for spending the time to give me detail on your Matrix. I look forward to your next sequence.

Hey Kelvin,

I can imagine it is very expensive to ship to New Zeland!

Here is an idea using seed pixels I considered… maybe it would work for you:

Good luck my friend!
